Appointment of the Vice-President Indigenous

Appointment of the Vice-President Indigenous

Qwul’sih’yah’maht, Robina Thomas will be retiring from her role as Vice-President Indigenous at the end of her term in December 2025. On behalf of the university community and the leadership team, I would like to recognize Robina’s dedicated work and acknowledge her commitment to the university. Robina’s deep knowledge, experience, and community connections have been instrumental in advancing the UVic values and principles of ensuring truth, respect and reconciliation. Through her work, she has taught so many of us the value of working with a good mind and a good heart here in lək̓ʷəŋən territory. I offer my immense gratitude for her important role in preparing us for the work to come.

SEARCH PROCESS

With Robina’s retirement at the end of 2025, we will begin the selection process for her successor this spring in accordance with the Procedures for the Appointment of the Vice-President Indigenous (Policy GV0330). I have asked the University Secretary’s Office to establish an appointment committee for that purpose, and this work is currently underway.

As members of the university community, you will have opportunities to engage throughout the search process. Please look for more information on those opportunities in the weeks and months to come.

Best regards,

Kevin Hall
President and Vice-Chancellor
