Associate Vice-President Research (internals only)

Candidates are now being considered for the position of Associate Vice-President Research (AVPR). The ideal start date for this role is May 1, 2025, however this is negotiable based on the availability of the selected candidate. This position is a five-year term, which is renewable for a second five-year term following a successful reappointment process. Candidates must hold a tenured appointment in an academic department at the University of Victoria.

The Office of the Vice-President Research is seeking an experienced and dynamic academic leader to fill this Associate Vice-President Research (AVPR) role, with a specific focus on Research Impact and Society. This position reports directly to the Vice-President Research and Innovation (VPRI) and will work closely with the VPRI Executive team to further implement Aspiration 2030, UVic’s Research and Creative Works Strategy. The new AVPR will partner with our existing AVPR to advance strategic initiatives, position UVic externally to advance our research reputation, and support our faculty and students to undertake the highest-quality research and creative works. UVic is seeking an internal candidate who is an established and accomplished researcher with a track record of excellence in SSHRC-related research to complement the NSERC/CIHR expertise of the existing AVPR and VPRI.
