Convera GlobalPay

The Convera GlobalPay for Students service allows you to arrange tuition payments in your own currency.

  • Your payment is immediately converted to Canadian dollars, avoiding uncertainty with future exchange rates.
  • There are no transaction fees from Convera or UVic (though you may be charged a fee by your bank).

To make a payment using Convera GlobalPay for Students:

  1. Access the Convera GlobalPay for Students system using your UVic student number and preferred contact email address.
  2. For "1-Tuition Fees" enter the amount owing on your tuition account summary.
  3. Select your local currency. The amount owing in your local currency will be automatically calculated.
  4. Select who is making the payment from the "Who is Paying" drop-down list and complete the required payment details fields. If the payer is different from the student, you can enter payer details here.
  5. Confirm your quote by agreeing to the total cost in your home currency and agree to the conditions.
  6. Payment instructions will be sent to the email address provided. Print the payment instructions, take them to your bank and follow the instructions to transfer the required amount to Convera. Note: the payment must be completed within 72 hours. If the 72 hour period has elapsed and you have not made the payment at your bank, go back to the Convera GlobalPay for Students site to obtain a new quote. The expiry date is noted on the payment instructions page.

Once funds have been transferred to Convera, they will be credited to your UVic account in Canadian dollars.

It can take 3-6 days business days for the University to receive your funds.

Remember to include weekends and holidays when estimating the number of days your payment may take.

GlobalPay for Students offers several secure payment options online for students across the globe.

Depending on where your payment is coming from you can make payments through providers such as UnionPay and Alipay in China, ICICI in India, Sofort and iDEAL in Europe, and Hana Bank in Korea.

You can also make payments directly from your bank account.

As with any payment system, the amount of time it takes can fluctuate.

If your payment isn't reflected in your UVic student account within 8 business days (not including weekends and holidays), you should contact Convera.

It typically takes 3-6 business days for your payment to be received by UVic and applied to your student account.

If you make your payment on the tuition fee deadline, your payment will be late by the time UVic receives it

It is the your responsibility to ensure that payments are received by the tuition fee due dates, regardless of payment method.

Wire transfer

If you're paying your tuition from a bank account outside of Canada and are not able to use the Convera GlobalPay for Students option, you can send an international wire transfer.

  • Ensure that your bank uses your student ID number and name in the reference field for the wire transfer.
  • Send a scanned copy of your payment receipt to tuition@uvic.ca to ensure that we are made aware of your payment. Otherwise, it may take longer for your tuition payment to be identified and you may miss the deadline.

If you're calculating currency exchange rates, use the sell exchange rate.

Wire transfer fee

Routing banks often take a $25 wire transfer fee from your payment, so the amount the University of Victoria receive is less than what you pay. In order to avoid your payment being short you should include $25 extra in the wire transfer payment amount. However, DO NOT SEND more than this extra $25 in your wire transfer. Any overpayments will be credited to future tuition and will not be refunded to the student.
