Community

Common Ground

Monthly guest speaker series exploring transformative ideas and insights for fostering peaceful, sustainable, and thriving communities at both local and global levels. Held on the last Sunday of each month 2 to 3pm followed by refreshments.

Program runs the last Sunday of each month 2:00-3:00PM.

Creating Climate Resilience Art-making

Are you a young person (15 – 30 years old) who experiences climate anxiety? Join us for a series of workshops where we will explore our feelings about climate change through artmaking, dialogue and community meals. No artmaking experience required!

Program runs weekly Tuesday 5:30-8:00PM.

Inclusive Christians: Around the Table Campus Communion

Gather for a simple Christian service of prayer, song, scripture, and contemplation. Our worship is centered around a gospel reading for which we take time to discuss and listen to student interpretations of the text. All are welcome.

Program runs weekly Wednesday 5:00-6:00PM.

Soulful Spaces

Weekly, student-led discussions that explore personal & social issues through a spiritual lens. Discussions 4:45 to 6pm, followed by free dinner.

Program runs weekly Friday 4:45-6:00PM. Dinner 6:00-7:00PM.

Heart to Heart

Conferring with a spiritual counsellor in the Christian tradition available for fresh insight on challenges you may be facing.

Program runs daily Monday to Friday 8:30-9:00AM.

Mustard Seed & Multifaith Centre Food Share Program

This food share program provides food for UVic students through the Multifaith Centre.

Program runs Monday-Friday 8:30AM-12:00PM.

Yoga

Yoga for Recharging the Mind

As the body requires sleep to rest so does your mind. Yoga is a practice that will tone your body and mind towards stability. The Asanas and Breathwork of Yoga can be preparative for meditation and are a mind and body practice.

Program runs weekly Thursday 3:30-4:20PM.

Meditation

Learn to Meditate with Sound and Silence

Meditation observes the breath, while the mind goes inward with self reflection and thoughtlessness, this reduces stress and anxiety, develops inner stillness, increases self-awareness, and opens the heart and mind to presence.

Program runs weekly Thursday 4:30-5:20PM.

Learn Zen Buddhist Meditation

Zen Meditation is a program designed to teach meditation and experience the practice of Zen Buddhism.

Program runs weekly Sunday 11:00AM-1:30PM.

Noon Meditation

Spirituality and faith

Healing & Prayer Circle in Honour of the Indigenous Children

Reading of prayers from various faith groups & traditions in honour of the Indigenous Children of Canada and the world.

Program runs weekly Wednesday 7:00-7:30PM.

Paris Talks – Book Study & Group Discussions

A study and groups discussion of various topics discussed by Abdul-Bahá that are relevant to the problems in today's society.

Program runs weekly Wednesday 7:30-8:45PM.

Ecumenical Bible Study

Gather to discuss Scripture, pray, and nurture ecumenical community with fellow students.

Program runs weekly Wednesday 4:45-6:00PM.

Catholic Mass

Come and celebrate the source and summit of the Catholic faith and join us in getting to know one another and build community on campus.

Program runs weekly Thursday 11:30AM-12:30PM.

Friday Prayers

Friday Prayers (Jum’ah) is a time for all Muslims to leave their day-to-day activities for a congregational prayer and sermon (Khutbah).

Program runs weekly Friday 1:00-2:00PM.

Islamic Lecture for Women (Halaqa)

Islamic Lecture for Women is a weekly program that is dedicated to learning the core principles and practices of Islam.

Program runs weekly Friday 7:30-9:30PM.

Riyad as Salihin Hadith Circle for Women

Join us for the Riyad-us-Saliheen Hadith Circle, a gathering dedicated to exploring the timeless teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as compiled in the renowned collection, Riyad-us-Saliheen.
